This Wednesday, November 12, I’ll be holding a community meeting to discuss a license for a wine wholesaler looking to open on Rhode Island Avenue. The meeting will be held at the King Soloman Grand Lodge at 2245 Rhode Island Avenue NE at 6:30 PM.
The meeting location is still TBD, but I will update this post, so check back for a location (it will be in the neighborhood). Tentative time is 6:30 PM.
Madidus LLC is new firm, started by some folks in the neighborhood. They seek to be a wine importer and wholesaler here in DC. They are wanting to open an office for their company at 2300 Rhode Island Ave NE. The wine itself is kept offsite in an appropriate, climate-controlled space, so this is just the office space for the company. Representatives of Madidus will be on hand to give an overview of their company, what they want to do and answer any questions.
I want to be clear about one aspect of this: this license is for a WHOLESALER licence. This is not for a liquor store or a bar/restaurant. The licence will only allow this company to sell to other retailers. Sales to the general public are prohibited.
Pending this community discussion, I’ll be asking ANC 5C to take a vote to support their license at the November ANC 5C meeting on November 19.
Come to the meeting on Wednesday to find out more information. If you can’t make the email me your questions and I’ll report back what we find out.
On Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 PM there will be a meeting to update the community on the progress of construction of the new Woodridge Library.
Date: Saturday, November 8, 2014
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: Washington Center on Aging, 2601 18th St NE, (18th and Douglas St, NE).
This meeting is hosted by the Friends of the Woodridge Library, which is an outstanding group that supports and works with the Woodridge branch library. There will be an opportunity to get more information or even join at the meeting. Thanks to the FWL for convening this meeting!
